Why is the period of a Earth's rotation 24 hours/day?
Because it is to indicate how fast 12 hours has gone by, just like that.
How many days and nights have we seen so far?

Lost count..
daylight or night
probably no longer matters to any of us

So what's the purpose of the sun?
just to feed us our skin receptors with Vitamin D?
allow plants to make food so we've food to eat? oh would someone please retrieve back my primary school science textbook on food chains; still remember we had to learn the spelling of chlorophyll?
create warmth in this world? but it still feels so cold
to indicate another day of slogging? we still slog 24/7 don't we?
